Review of 2016 Goals

goals review

I should have done this earlier but better late than never. Happy new year to you all. May this year be filled with pleasant surprises for us. For the sake of accountability, let's see how well I did with my 2016 goals.

HAIR GOALS
Length Retention: I retained 4 - 5 inches, but the length turned out to be useless. My ends were awful so I had to trim off most of the retained length. See here
Henna Treatments: I didn't keep up with the schedule at all. I did just 3 treatments throughout the year.
Daily Moisturising & Sealing: I was fairly consistent. Although there were days of only moisturising and no sealing. *coversface, LOL.
Protective Styling: I definitely did a lot more protective styles than ever before. I did over 16 protective styles, I couldn't even fit all into the collage. Lol

Hair Challenges: I took part in two.
Exercise & Healthy Eating: I was only consistent with working out for the first half of the year. The second half was a huge fail. *bowsheadinshame. My eating habit though has improved greatly.
Hair Health: I don't think I did well on this, my hair got thicker and fuller but my ends were awful. I also experienced terrible breakage in the last few months of the year which is reason for the thin ends. I'm still investigating the cause of this

BLOG/BUSINESS GOALS
Wider Audience: I was able to get more Nigerian blog visitors.
Content: Not good. I had so many topics an drafts I never finished nor posted. I'm so sorry. I got busy and blogging sort of took the back seat.
Giveaways: Another huge fail. I planned to do giveaway for my first bloggoversary, but I was so busy I even missed the date totally.

BUSINESS
Expansion: I definitely sold a whole lot more hair care products. I also took the plunge and opened my salon. Glory to God, it's doing well.
Recipes/Formulations: I now have two new products; "Daily Hydrating Mist & All Natural Anti-Dandruff Hair Butter.
Branding: I now have a logo and tagline *smiles

Thank you all for adding colour to my 2016, the views, comments, shares, patronage and support. I appreciate and love you all. Goals for 2017 coming up next.

xx

Big Announcement: HairvolutionbyBee Lounge Opening Soon

I'm so excited to let you all know that HairvolutionbyBee Lounge will be officially open for business on Monday, 29/08/2016. Since the start of healthy hair journey ( 2 years plus), I have been to a salon just once and it was not a fun experience. I did not like the way my hair was handled. Anyone on a hair journey around here would agree with me that most salons don't have much knowledge of healthy hair dos and don'ts. Most of them are only all about the lovely, gorgeous hair styles. Thankfully, great salons are springing up especially natural hair salons. Sadly, only ladies in cities like Lagos, Abuja and Port Harcourt are enjoying this "luxury".

I started considering owning a healthy haircare salon about a year ago, because there wasn't any around me. I mentioned it briefly as one of my goals for this year, bit I was not super sure then. I finally took the plunge around March and got a place. Six months after, we are good to go and set for business. It has not exactly been an easy feat. Infact I have been super busy, more busy than I expected. And, that is why I haven't been posting so much. Apologies and I promise to catch up on that. It's been quite a journey and I've learnt a lot. There were times I wanted to quit, but my passion for healthy hair kept me going, I'm also not a quitter. Family and friends that believe in my cause also provided a great support system.

2016 Hair/Blog/Business Goals

Happy new year lovelies, may 2016 bring fulfilment of dreams and purpose for each one of us. Thanks for the love and support in the last quarter of 2015 which when this blog was launched. I appreciate you all.

So in the spirit of a new year/new beginning, I want to share my goals or targets for this year with you all. This would help to keep me accountable and for reference purposes.
HAIR GOALS
LENGTH RETENTION: I would love to retain about 5 - 6 inches this year. This should get my hair to MBL (Mid - back length) or there about.
HENNA TREATMENTS: I did my first henna treatment in December, 2015. I will continue to do henna treatments once a month or once in two months.
DAILY MOISTURISING AND SEALING: At the beginning of my hair journey I wasmore diligent in daily moisturising and sealing but over time I have slacked off and the effect was there  (breakage). I will be diligent with moisturising and sealing daily or once in two days this year no matter how busy I am.
PROTECTIVE STYLING:  I want to be more adventurous with P.S. this year. I will try out new styles both simple and complex.
HAIR CHALLENGES: I will be participating in a number of hair challenges, they help to keep one focused.
EXERCISE & HEALTHY EATING : My goal is to work out at least 3 times a week and to have meal plans for a healthy diet that I will follow strictly.
HAIR HEALTH : The most important hair goal for me this year is to maintain and improve the health of my hair.

BLOG/BUSINESS GOALS
WIDER AUDIENCE: I will work on increasing the blog's readership/followership especially in Nigeria. So far, a higher percentage of my blog visitors are from the United States. I want to reach out to more of my Nigerian sisters so they know healthy and long "Naija" hair is not amyth.
CONTENT: This year, the blog would do mre than just documenting my HHJ (Wash days, styles). I will post educative blog posts and product reviews that could help other ladies on HHJs.
GIVEAWAYS: I hope to do a couple of giveaways this year on the blog/social media.

BUSINESS
EXPANSION: I want to expand the market and capacity of my small hair-care business  (Sale of hair products, unrefined shea butter, whipped unrefined shea butter, satin caps, satin pillow cases and so on). I might also go into salon business, that is still under a lot of consideration.
RECIPES/FORMULATIONS: I hope to perfect DIY recipes that I have been using for myself and for friends and family. When I get standard recipes, I would then determine the marketability.
BRANDING: I will get a logo and choose a tag line for the blog and my small business.

So help me God!

What are your hair/blog goals for 2016?
